Sergio Zappella and Arthur Schmed founded the company Saeco S.r.l., in Gaggio Montano, a small town in the province of Bologna, and they started manufacturing espresso coffee machines for domestic use. Many international patents have written the history of coffee up until today. In the meantime, more than 70 specialised engineers and technicians have worked on perfecting the pleasure of coffee.
